The Bounty Teacher's Guide

Scalping Outside the dawnland

Appendix A: Land Grants to Scalpers

Land grants were authorized to individual soldiers and to groups of soldiers who petitioned the colonial government for large tracts of land to found settler towns and cities in the Dawnland (later rebranded as New England). In the bounty rewards archive we present evidence about land grants approved for individual scalpers and groups of scalpers who participated in bounty-hunting expeditions and battles. We encourage you to use the interactive search tool on the Bounty Rewards Archive page of the Bounty website (www.bountyfilm.org/appendix) to search for town names, names of killers, captors, or claimants or by the year of the attack.
See www.bountyfilm.org/appendix for an interactive search tool, which allows you to search for town names, names of killers, captors, or claimants or by the year of the attack.
